Naming What We Know Chapter 3 Pt 1 (Dani):

● 3.0

○ “An ideology is a system of ideas and beliefs that together constitute a comprehensive worldview.”

○ While creating any education program: “What sort of social group do I intend to apprentice the learner into?”

○ Everything we do reflects our ideologies

● 3.1

○ Commonly, writing: act of encoding or inscribing ideas in written form

○ “Through writing, writers come to develop and perform identities in relation to the interests, beliefs, and values of the communities they engage with”

○ “Writing also functions as a means of displaying our identities.” who knew?

● 3.2

○ “Writers’ identities are, in part, a function of the time when they live” -why just writers? This is true for everyone…

○ School is merely one historical context

>threshold concept that a writers' histories, processes, and identities vary makes composing very complex. And makes it hard for students as well.

>That is why a single approach of uniform writing can not be achieved.
